"Nobody can go back and make a new beginning, but anybody

can start today and make a new ending." - Maria Robinson

We started second home shopping a bit ahead of schedule in August of 2009.  We were very lucky to find a really nice  setting on the east side of Rochester (after seeing 27 houses and being outbid on one).  This house has 1800 sq feet (not counting the finished basement), 4 bedrooms, 2 fireplaces (one gas) 2 full baths, one half bath (all updated), and a nice new kitchen.  The backyard was huge- leading back into woods, and very private.  To the left there are great big pine trees and a 6 foot slope up to the neighbors, to the right it slopes down close to 8 feet to the other neighbor, and the back has a slope as well that goes all the way back to a small storage shed and woods that go up to the top of the surrounding houses up on the street behind us.  We were very lucky.  5 minutes from everything we want, but very private with woods that are protected and will not be developed.  Asher has a new wood playset, a good neighborhood, and a great yard.  Pictures are in order of oldest to most recent.

EXTERIOR

Outside and yard: Various seasons...We eventually want to reside and add a small front porch and do plenty of landscaping.  That fall front photo shows the wall of leaves from clean-up.  The backyard goes all the way out to that little red shed (also ours).  A buch of tree and landscape photos, patio and hammock POV, and a picture of our new grill (with our old grill looking on with jealousy), Goodbye old grill.  Random outdoor shots.

Weather & various outside anomalies: A deer in the backyard in the morning.  Our first blizzard 2/26/10 and follow up pictures.  A rabbit that lives in the backyard, and our neighbors tree that fell due to a heatwave in early July 2010- no damages.  A heavy fog rolled into the trees late in summer 2010.  Deer and a cardinal in our backyard in the summer and fall 2011.  Red sky 8/13/2011

INTERIOR

1st floor: 2 living rooms/2 fireplaces, kitchen, half bath, dining room, sliding door access to yard, access to basement. (there are some before pics  of the flat grey paint, and then how we jazzed it up), Our dining room table was a bit tired, so I took it on as an artistic experiment, and we also bought new chairs, and a new kitchen table.  There are a few pictures of the Christmas trees and lights.  We painted away the "to sell flat grey" like wild people after we moved in on Halloween of 2009.  The kitchen is slowly being made back over to stainless steel, and eventually we want to expand the kitchen and change the Pergo floor over to stone.  Chris finally wins out with a new arrangement of furniture in the reading room.  Cats love the couch perch.  We replaced a very old sliding patio door (see old and new doors) with french doors and moved our dining room into the new back room.  We also matched and replaced the front door and sidelights (see old door and new door).  Morning sun in the fall.  The old dining room became an in transition work/sitting room.

Finished basement: (access off of the kitchen) Asher gets a huge playroom/artspace (check out the poster with his name for it "shitophris"), and the other larger half is our art studio (and then there is a back laundry room and tool area with storage).  We painted Asher's room happy and bright in April 2010, and painted the art studio side bright in October 2010.

2nd floor: 4 bedrooms (including a pic of what Asher's bedroom looked like before with bright blue paint and wallpaper, the the flat grey hallway before the color burst), and 2 full baths.  We stripped the wallpaper and the carpet from the one extra bedroom and made it a computer/work room for Chris, and the other is a guestroom. We have not done anything in our bedroom yet besides re-finishing the bureau and buying 2 new nightstands.  Asher's bedroom fishtank compliments the Mario decor.  We replaced the tub in Asher's bathrrom in the Spring of 2011 and repainted.  We moved a studio (Alan's) upstairs.

Cats: Maggie (Orange tabby b. 2001-the oldest, we had her before Asher), Willow (Black long hair b. 2004), Sookie (Grey tabby b. 2010-mother of Harry), Harry (grey b. 2010), Rogue (Black and white long hair b. 2011)...and of course group and cute shots.  There was another cat named Phoebe around 2008- but she was insane and we had to get rid of her after she went wild on Asher when he was 4.
