INSPIRATION

"Our lives begin to end the day that we become silent about things that matter." -MLK jr.

A steady inspiration is needed by every artist to keep making art. Art originates in that murky area in our brain that lights up with the right seed.  Like many artists, I am inspired by a variety of things.  Having been an artist this long, I have fallen in love with some of the core elements and principles that make a *good* piece of art.  Light, texture, line, shape, composition, contrast.  But I wanted to provide samples of subjects that inspired me, and what came from that inspiration. So I created a short list of subjects that I regularly lean on to energize my creativity.  Literature, television/movies, mental health, horror, politics, social subjects, the occasional times that I dabble in abstraction, and music.  The range spans drawing, painting, photography, 3-Dimensional. and digital art.  These are just a few samples inspired by endless great artists, story tellers, and heroes.   (*I explain the meaning of "good" art within my philosophy in a n "old journal" post dated: Art Philosophies, March 2004)
